Non-executive Directors
An investor or corporation may be looking to appoint an experienced Non-executive Director to one of its portfolio/investee companies. There are differences in the attitudes and skills required of a Non-executive Director in private companies having a few major shareholders compared to those for a Non-executive Director in a large listed company. This is even more likely to be true in early-stage technology companies. For example: the need to be well connected with the technology and players in the market; the ability and willingness to step-in as a temporary executive; the ability to balance conflict between founders and investors; and knowing how to preserve value through periods of cash flow uncertainty.
Some of our professionals have experience as investor-appointed Non-executive Directors on the boards of early-stage technology companies. They have been through all the dramas. Where the fit looks right, they may be willing to offer their services as a Non-Executive Director on typical market terms. Alternatively we may be able to reach into our network to refer a suitably experienced person.
